Justice for Children being supported by SRHR African Trust (SAT) held the Age of Consent to Sexual Intercourse and Access to Sexual and  Reproductive Health Services Breakfast Meeting today at Holiday Inn, Harare with Parliamentarians from the Justice , Legal and Parliamentary Committee, Health and Child Care Committee, Human Rights Committee from various constituencies. The primary focus of the meeting was unpacking the various laws on the age of consent to sexual intercourse and access to sexual and reproductive health services from a Child rights perspective to enable the said parliamentary portfolio committees to be on a common ground in understanding the legal framework on issues emerging.The meeting served as a learning platform for all participants, including planning ways to address the ongoing Age of Consent discourse as well as the existing gaps by even taking advantage of the pending Children’s Amendment Bill, the Child Justice Bill and the Marriages Bill by highlighting the problems with the current laws and policies governing the age of consent to sexual intercourse and access to sexual and reproductive health services.
